Everything Has Its Time

I’ve been reading the book of Ecclesiastes these days, and one chapter that truly touched me was chapter 3. I read it slowly, over and over, as if God Himself was whispering directly to my heart. The first verse stayed with me:
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Throughout my 19 years of life, I’ve come to understand a truth that isn’t learned overnight: time and patience go hand in hand. It’s easy to say but hard to live out, especially when everything around you feels like it’s rushing forward, and you’re just trying to keep up. But God has shown me that it’s not speed that defines purpose, but faithfulness in the waiting.
I remember when my heart was so attached to someone, I believed was a gift from God. Everything felt right, everything felt good. I prayed, asked for signs, and tried my best to do everything the right way. But slowly, that bond started to fade. And I held on. Letting goes felt like losing something sacred. I thought, “What if I’m letting go of what God had for me?”
But time passed. And with every day that hurt, something was quietly forming within me—strength, clarity. Years later, I realized it wasn’t rejection, it was protection. God was keeping me from what I thought I needed. Time doesn’t just heal—it reveals truths we couldn’t see in the midst of attachment.
“A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.”
Ecclesiastes 3:5
There was another season, even harder, when I battled anxiety, I couldn’t explain. I felt alone even when surrounded by people. I stopped writing, I stopped praying like I used to. I felt disconnected from myself. I wanted to get up quickly, go back to who I used to be—but I just couldn’t. It was a slow process, almost invisible. No one really knew what was going on inside. And it was there that I learned real healing doesn’t follow a timer. Sometimes, God doesn’t rush your process because He wants to walk with you through the valley, not fly you over it.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
Psalm 23:4
As young people, we live in a world that demands instant results. Everything moves fast—social media, answers, change. If you haven’t figured out your life by 20, it can feel like you’ve already failed. If you don’t know what to study, what to do, who to be with—it can seem like you’re falling behind. But let me tell you, from the heart: you are not late. You are not broken. You are not behind. You are in process.
God doesn’t move by likes or societal pressure. He moves by purpose—and purpose often requires silence, deserts, and waiting. Sometimes you’ll watch others receive what you’re still praying for. But don’t compare. What’s yours will come… in the perfect time.
“I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong…”
Ecclesiastes 9:11
It’s not the fastest runner who wins in the Kingdom. It’s the one who runs with purpose. With consistency. With faith.
“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Hebrews 12:1
In the meantime, work on yourself. Get to know God in secret. Learn to love yourself, even when you don’t understand what you’re going through. Even if you have to walk slowly—keep walking. Even when it hurts—keep trusting. Even when you don’t see the end—God is already there.
Maybe right now you don’t understand why that relationship didn’t work out. Why that friendship ended. Why you had to start over. But one day, you’ll look back and say: “Thank you, God, for teaching me to wait. For showing me that what I couldn’t understand was also part of Your plan.”
Because yes… everything has its time.
